Directors: Sean Penn
Run Time: 148 minutes
In Short:
The tragically true story of Christopher Johnson McCandless
Summary:
A recent college grad decides to throw all material possessions away and live his life, "Living His Life". Partly drawn from his own Morals, part from a less than desired upbringing, though genuine in nature. Narrated partly by his sister, she reveals insight into why certain events shaped his life. The movie, mostly however, is shown through the experiences of Chris himself and all the players he encounters who in turn, allow Him to see things just slightly different.
Undaunted, He gives the rest of his college fund to charity, and,he takes off exploring the country. Appreciating life like he always wanted. Yet at home, he leaves the rest of his family uncertain of his whereabouts for almost 2 years with no contact whatsoever.
Living the life of a tramp, and a happy one at that. Actually renaming himself "Alexander Supertramp". Taking in all the experiences, places, people, and scenery. All the while planning his "Big Alaskan adventure!" When that time finally comes, although independent & resourceful, Chris finds ever evolving challenges not anticipated, as his family waits in wonder as to his fate.
This is where I have to stop as to not give away the ending if you are not familiar with this true story.
Some small part in all of us wants to just set out, live life, and enjoy all the beautiful things around us. -RH

My Review:
This was a Great Movie! 4-stars
A+ acting. Awesome cinematography that captured both mood and the beautiful places he goes. Lessons that we can all learn about Individual Freedom, Family, Friends, Forgiveness, and regret. In Skunk's opinion........ Enjoy every second you have on this beautiful earth to the fullest. That being said........Don't throw caution to the wind.
Worth Buying! It was a bit long, but I would have watched it twice. Actually, I'm going to have to after the wife reams me for watching it without her.
Self Sabotage. I excel at it.
